8 Months Old

Emmett Joel is 8 months old!  I feel like this all has gone by way too quickly.  He is sitting up for short periods of time, but cannot sit up on his own yet.  He is so close to crawling!  He loves our dog, Diesel, and will grab a chunk of hair, his lip or eye any chance he gets.  He loves to give kisses!  Emmett is eating solids now and has tried peas, green beans, carrots and sweet potatoes so far.  He also prefers apple juice over grape juice.  Emmett entertains himself a lot and is such a good baby.  He has outgrown the colic stage (Praise The Lord!) and cries significantly less.  He is so enjoyable and is such a blessing in our lives.  He loves going for walks in his wagon, playing with toys, bouncing, and EATING.  It feels like he eats all the time.  We balanced our school schedules for as long as we could in order to spend as much time with Emmett as possible.  The second half of this semester, we had to start him in daycare.  It makes me really sad, but knowing that I can provide him with an amazing childhood through my education keeps me going.  He seems to really enjoy the other babies and the socialization is good for him.  He has become very talkative and is putting more sounds together each day.  He says "dada" but probably doesn't know what it means.  We are learning sign language, especially in the high chair, and he is already giving us better cues.  Cloth diapers are going great, and we would highly recommend them for anyone wanting to save money!  It's time for Emmett to eat.... again.  Have a great day, and God Bless!

 Before...

 After!

Story:  We were out for Pizza and Emmett was sitting in a high chair at the end of the table.  While waiting for our food, I was entertaining Emmett by tickling his feet and saying "look at those toesie woesies!"  in my best baby voice.  A little boy, about three years old, walks over staring at Emmett.  His grandma says, "Ethan, what are you doing over there?"  He responds, "looking at those toesie woesies!" too funny!

23 Weeks

Our little bear is 5 months now!  He recently rolled over for the first time and is happier with tummy time, knowing that if he puts in a little effort he can get on his back.  He loves his toys and needs to be constantly entertained.  He has been taking naps in his crib and we are working on transitioning him from the play yard in our room to the crib in his.  It has been difficult because he is still up about six times a night, so selfishly wanting my own sleep, it's easier for me to keep him in our room.  Emmett weighs about 14 pounds and is 24 inches long.  That puts him in the 5th percentile for his age, but Doctor says he should catch up by the end of his first year (looking at Andrew).  He is ticklish which is super fun!  He has severe colic, which has really been a challenge for us, but it feels like it has been getting a little easier lately.  It is sad when he cries for so long and there is nothing else I can do.  I know that it is harder on parents than the baby, but it still makes my heart sad.  He absolutely loves books, story time is probably his favorite part of the day.  He also can push the buttons on noise and light up toys now which is really fun.  He has almost complete control of his head and his hand-eye coordination has really excelled.  We ask him "where's Daddy?" and he turns his head to look at Andrew and smile; it is really cute.  He will sit in his bumbo chair or high chair and play with toys for a lot longer period of time than he used to.  Our "tranquil turtle" has been awesome for getting him back to sleep in the middle of the night.  Yay sleep!  Here's a lot of pictures of our little big guy!!!  Have a great day, God bless :)
